Sometimes we don’t want to put in many efforts. A day is exhausting enough and adding a few more things to do even if it helps us escape stress feels unnecessary in those moments of laziness. Yet when we lay on the bed to get some rest and enjoy a good night’s sleep, we feel empty we don’t feel happy about the day and we don’t feel like we have accomplished as much good as compared to the amount of added problems to deal with.
The day has just passed by and it just doesn’t feel as fulfilling. And then you go about your social media accounts to look at other people’s lives which is more letting down as you see them enjoying and doing so much in one single day making the most of their lives.
You don’t have to have that kind of life. Honestly, you don’t even know what goes on in their real lives. Most people ignore their mental state and continue on with their life like everything is fine. Perhaps everything is going fine yet you have that emptiness and feeling of dissatisfaction.
These little deeds can help improve your day in the simplest way possible without feeling overwhelmed. It also helps you not to slip into stress.
In the morning, try to wake up with a big smile. Now, you have to consciously smile. It helps to start the day on the right foot. It is the kind of energy you build and set for the rest of your day. It gives you the direction as to this is how I want to spend the day, i.e. positively.
Feel grateful for the little things like the morning sunshine or the cup of coffee you are going to enjoy. Avoid the chaotic thoughts of what tasks or chores you need to get on with and start with being thankful for having another day, another chance and with more opportunities.
Stretch or do yoga for at least 10 minutes of your day. You have to release all those tensions that have built up on your muscles, that stress that sits on your shoulder and neck. You feel relaxed and refreshed. You can even add a breathing exercise session if you need to really help you clear the clutter in your mind.
Communicate with, express or help people close to you.
You may be talking to people about different things but are those things really giving you motivation, knowledge or were the subjects of the conversation something that piqued your interests. Make sure at least in a day once you involve in a conversation that totally pulls you in, shifts your focus from the menial to your passion.
You can give out hugs, you may dance or sing; really do anything to express your emotional state (whether good or bad) Don’t hide or try to lock in emotions that should be expressed and released out for better emotional and mental state.
Help someone out. It could be a stranger who needs a little hand or a close one who you think are having trouble or difficulty and could do with a little assistance. It makes you feel good from within and encourages you to do even better and involve in more such deeds of service.
At least have one favorite dish in a week or have something you really feel like eating in a day. This doesn’t allow you to make bad food choices but eat a preparation that makes your heart happy. It is as simple as that. It could be a food dish or a particular thing like chocolates or chips. That little feeling of satisfaction can really help improve your day.
Go for a walk. It doesn’t have to be intense brisk walking, could even be a stroll. Focus on reflecting and it could bring you new ideas, help solve a problem or simply help you relax from the day of stress. It could be more effective if you walk in nature and notice your surrounding. Find peace in your mind and it will help you make peace with the day to start up the next day with a fresh mind.
Somedays, cancel an event that is not really important and sleep in. Perhaps you had a rough week and couldn’t get enough sleep. Everybody and different tasks need you. But you need you more so it is essential that you cancel or postpone certain meetings or events to actually be with yourself, get the much-needed sleep. I mean who wouldn’t like to sleep in. It is okay to be a little selfish when it comes to giving your body enough rest.
Check on a friend. Have you been so lost in your daily life that you couldn’t check on your close friends? Then maybe you should and see how it makes you feel a little better inside. It is refreshing to discuss shared memories and catch up with what is going on in your friend’s lives.
Reflect on the best parts of your day. It is so easy to count all the negatives that happened. But from all the things that could go wrong, there are many things that went right and it’s really helpful to appreciate those things. If you practice this daily, it could help you appreciate life.
